too much leftover pepero

Augh! I haven't updated in a while and I feel bad.

Why are holidays always inherently a busy time of year? Well, I have been going through a big crunch time and haven't even gotten half of the things I need to get done, done.

But I have a 3 month time limit left and instead of going mad at the sheer number of things I need to accomplish, I'll take baby steps and do a little bit at a time. Number one - I finally have my DSLR pictures online HERE! It goes back to two years ago, the last time I was in Thailand. The last set I uploaded was my trip to Bali in July. I never did get around to blogging about it...

I'm still in the process of redoing my layout amongst other things, but until then I am going to get on top of my blogging. Especially now that life has gotten a whole lot more... peachy. :)

Last thing I wanted to blog about was Pepero Day. Oh, how ingenious! A holiday created solely because the numbers (11/11) look like your product! Gasp!

I got so many of these boxes and treats, and I still have yet to finish them.

I bought a new lens too! Still learning how to use it.

it pays to bond

I got home from work about two hours ago, pulling the longest shift I've ever had there.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I like the day shift, I like younger kids, I like that it's within walking distance of my apartment.

I'm very grateful for this job. It's probably the sole best thing that happened to me this year. It wasn't without complications, however. We've had another Korean teacher tell us she thinks we've got it easy.
And I'm not here to debate that tonight. Because I can see two sides to this viewpoint. I'm just stating that once you learn what you Korean coworkers think of you and your job, you kind of distance yourself from them. I've always felt judged. There's definitely a divide at my workplace. We're very cordial and get along, however.

But tonight I stayed late just because I wanted to help put together the art decorations our director is forcing our teachers to put up. I actually find doing that stuff fun. And I felt like the teachers appreciated it, because I can crank out posters and decorations like no other.

And it felt good that they told me, "Don't leave Korea! We need you here!" Because at work, at least in hagwons, you never get told you're doing a good job. You just hear when you're screwing up.

I know I leave in 3 months but they've already asked me if I was staying. I declined. But it feels good that the teachers don't want me to go. At least by that I know I did a good job and am a likable person.

And even if we hadn't bonded tonight, I would've still gone by how my kids treat me. It's the cutest thing when a class of 4 year-olds tell you they love you (Or if it's science class they add in "Teacher, thin! Teacher beautiful!" just to butter me up. Haha!) The older boys I teach will tell me "Teacher is a frog!" or something but then they run up and whisper in my ear "I love you!" Oh boys and their show of being mean to the girls they have crushes on. It's sweet (and also annoying).

I'm kind of not ready to leave just yet. I'm feeling wistful.

...Where did most of the year go?!

i was katy perry, not lady gaga T_T

Halloween on Saturday night! My coworkers and I went to the Kyungsung Pub Crawl. This was way better than what I did last year.

I made my costume out of things I snatched from school. I was Katy Perry from her California Girls music video.
Shooting for this:

Man those were a pain to iron on. This is a post Halloween shot t0o, there used to be more.

On the subway....

I make every effort to photobomb.

The Dadaepo Crew.

Cheun un! Cheun un! Brilliant.

Kinoeye was the best bar.

It doesn't look it but there were so many good costumes. This was a blast.

Colonel!

I was asked to take pictures with a bit. That was fun. And I saw EVERYONE I know it Korea there that night... which is good and bad. This girl, Steph I LOVE, but there are super douchebags here that I never wanted to see ever again. Ah well, as Eric said, "It's just transitory here." Meaning yeah, the good people leave, but so will the horrible ones.

Ah! This guy was sick. He made awesome drinks and did some good DJing. Couldn't stop dancing!

Dancing with Cici.

This is my favorite photo of the night. Eric looks like some kind of eyeless zombie! And Cici was just gone at that point, and in the cab ride home she only spoke Afrikaans so we were all just confused. HAHA! At least I know the f-bomb is the same.

Halloween's just way better spending it with a group of friends instead of a single person, I've decided. Thank you so much everyone!

princess peach, halloween kids, and outback

Happy Halloween!

I've got a few posts ready for the occasion. I was really worried this year wouldn't compare to last. Well, Halloween in Korea totally rocked. Huzzah!

First, my apartment...

I like that it says, Hello Halloween instead of Happy Halloween.

And we had two days of celebrating and parties at school. The first one we went to Outback (odd, yes) and had a Halloween parade.

My coworker made her outfit. Hint: it is a cosplay outfit. Can you guess which one? And I was Princess Peach minus the blonde wig.

Happy Birthday June!

Wow, Robert's mom went all out for that pirate costume. Just.. wow. Wow.

We are off to Outback, sir! Prince Eric...

Face painting.

Ohhhhh that dreaded hand pose....

We had a mini Halloween parade here. Sigh... I don't live in these apartments. :C

Next post! Awesome night out at Kyungsung!
